Last night we had our first-ever Spanish Koinonia. It was basically an introduction to the new way we are doing the Koinonia. There were a few people there who had never been part of our group of workers before. I think everyone went away from tonight feeling very envisioned.
We talked about the importance of the core of the church being consistent in their walks with Jesus and in coming to the Sunday meetings. In many ways the group of workers serves as a bridge between the pastors and the rest of the church. People may write off what the pastors say because they think, "Well, you're the pastor, of course you have enough faith to live for Jesus." However, if people in the church see others around them living for Jesus, it makes everything seem more accessible.
A church can't be run by the pastor's influence alone, but by all of us encouraging each other forward. If we are all awake to our responsibility as core members of the church, then there are more of us to see the needs of others, to pray, and to encourage.
